Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, continue to make history, each earning prestigious honors at this year’s NAACP Image Awards.
The 35-time Grammy-winning icon secured two major awards—Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Album—for her groundbreaking project Cowboy Carter. The highly acclaimed album, which redefined the country music landscape, was recognized during a virtual, non-televised ceremony. Beyoncé was also nominated for Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for her single 16 Carriages.
Meanwhile, 13-year-old Blue Ivy Carter made her mark by winning Outstanding Character Voiceover Performance for her role in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. In the highly anticipated prequel, which premiered in December, Blue voiced Kiara, the daughter of Queen Nala and King Simba. Beyoncé reprised her role as Nala from the 2019 Lion King film, while Donald Glover returned as the voice of Simba.
The accolades add to an already momentous year for Beyoncé. Her NAACP Image Award wins follow her historic triumph at the Grammys, where Cowboy Carter earned both Best Country Album and Album of the Year.
The Cowboy Carter era began with a surprise Super Bowl commercial in February 2024, where Beyoncé unveiled the album’s lead singles, 16 Carriages and Texas Hold ’Em. The 27-track project has since played a pivotal role in highlighting Black artists in country music and reclaiming the genre’s roots.
This year’s NAACP Image Awards celebrate the theme “Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence.” The main ceremony will air Saturday on BET and CBS.
